JustClaims was founded by Chris Himes and Scot Chisholm. Chris had his own battle with wrongfully denied commercial claims before an expert advocate stepped in and fought for a fair outcome. Scot experienced something similar when fire struck his San Diego home. Both saw firsthand how the claims process fails property owners, and how much difference the right advocate makes. They built JustClaims to give every property owner access to that same firepower. Prior to JustClaims, Scot founded Classy and led it as CEO for over ten years. Chris served on the Board of Classy, then joined the company as COO, eventually taking over as CEO in 2021. Classy was acquired by GoFundMe in 2022.

A public adjuster is a licensed professional who represents you — not the insurance company — during a property damage claim. Insurance companies have their own adjusters working to minimize what they pay out. A public adjuster works exclusively for the policyholder, handling documentation, negotiation, and carrier communication to make sure you get the full value of your claim. Think of it like having a lawyer, but for your insurance claim.

Zero upfront. We work on contingency — you only pay if we win. Depending on the claim type, we charge either a low flat fee or a percentage of the settlement value. Our average is around 10%, which is on the low end of industry standard. Most clients find the increase in their settlement more than covers our fee.

When you and your insurance company can't agree on the value of a claim — not whether it's covered, but how much it's worth — either party can invoke the appraisal clause in your policy. Each side hires their own independent appraiser to assess the damage. If they can't agree, a neutral umpire makes the final call. Appraisal typically resolves in 30 to 60 days versus 6 to 12 months for litigation, costs far less, and usually results in significantly higher payouts than the carrier's initial offer. JustClaims handles both claims and appraisals.
